Bill Griffitt was born on June 27, 1941to Elise and RC Griffitt, Sr. He graduated from Castleberry High School in 1960. He married Judy Uncel in Oct. of 1975. She had his only daughter in Dec. of 1976. He went to be with his Savior on May 4, 2009. I have many memories of my childhood years with my dad. In fact, one of the pictures featured on here is of him and me at the former Sesame Place in Irving, TX. It was taken in Aug. of 1983. You could say I was Daddy's little girl. :) My dad was a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was in the church choir up until he had his stroke in Aug. of 2005. I can recall very few times that he wasn’t there on a Sunday. My dad also had a lifelong interest in football, having played at Castleberry High School. He really enjoyed sports. Not a Sunday or Monday evening would go buy where he wasn’t watching a sports event on TV. My dad also served in the US Army from 1963-1969. He was a medic, which is surprising because I didn’t think he had an interest in the medical field, but apparently, he was up to the challenge. I learned the value of hard work from my dad. He taught me to keep going even when I wanted to give up. My mom has told me that after I was born, my dad was walking on Cloud 9. He was like a kid with a new toy. Wherever my dad went when I was little, I did too. I was his shadow. My dad left quite a legacy, but the most fascinating thing I discovered about him is that he’s 5th cousins with Elvis Presley’s mother, Gladys. Yes, the man everyone calls The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Through my dad’s father’s paternal great-great grandmother, I’m 6th cousins with Elvis Presley. She was the sister to the man who was Elvis’ great-great-great-great grandfather on his mother’s side. I can only wish my dad were still here for me to tell him I discovered which cousin we are to Elvis. Even after fifteen years this May that my dad has been gone, I can still feel his presence with me every day. I can only hope I’ve made him proud of me. “I love you and miss you, daddy!”
